Avoiding Spiritual Leaven: Part 3

[Steve Myers] In I Corinthians 5, Paul begins a discussion about the connection between leaven and sin. It's great symbol that tells us so many things. And in verse 8, he begins to say that we have to keep this Feast of Unleavened Bread. And in other words, that leaven that represents sin has to be gone. We've got to make sure we get rid of it. And then he's telling us we have to live this way. So get rid of leaven, leave it behind and live the spiritual truth behind that. So in verse 8, he says, "Therefore, let us keep this feast." Oh, what feast? Well, he's referring back to the Passover in the Days of Unleavened Bread, but not with old leaven, not with a sinful life, not with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 

This is powerful because Paul's telling us there's no question whether or not to keep the Holy Days. There's no question of whether to keep this Feast of Unleavened Bread. The question is, how do we keep it? How do we keep this feast? Well for Christians today, New Covenant Christians, New Testament Christians today are to keep the Holy Days, specifically here, the days of unleavened bread and how do we do it? We do it sincerely. We do it truthfully. And so the Holy Days are so important for us because great spiritual lessons can be learned.

So let's leave that leaven behind and truly live, sincere, truthful lives.
