We can rely on God to help us when our strength is not enough.

Paul wrote one of the most encouraging verses in the Bible to a church he loved deeply. Those words are for all of God’s children. Paul wrote, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). Paul did get discouraged from time to time, but he always rallied from those low points. He found the key to overcome the greatest losses and worst suffering. Faith does give us superhuman strength. None of that comes automatically, but it is in our ability to act so that God will give us this strength. It has to do with faith based on truth and solid rock. Jesus Christ is that Rock.

Paul knew that he must suffer and put forth every ounce of effort he could. God expected him to do his part just as God expects His children to plan, think and act. We have our part to play in fighting that which is evil within us. Christ gladly gives the added strength. God created humans with great ability to do things, but the spiritual things that really matter and that lead to eternal life are those Paul spoke about. Paul had experienced various needs in the physical and spiritual areas in which he worked. Christ was his added strength and Christ stands ready to be yours—just ask.
